Spring Forward with SCTeam!

It's our favorite time of year---Spring! So SCTeam decided to celebrate the season by offering our biggest promotion, EVER! If you like to win awesome prizes, and you have a few minutes to participate, then you're going to love what we have to offer. It's our Spring Forward with SCTeam Team Promotion!

We have another birthday girl this month! Happy Birthday to Carolyn at All of the Above!

Our birthday gal owns her own gardening and collectible shop so her Etsy shop easily shows her passion for collecting all things special. Carolyn's shop is a fantastic mixture of all sorts of goodies from vintage items to handmade. Since it's gardening season, and planting flowers is on my mind, I quickly spotted this vintage Mccoys wishing well planter.

We'll start with Melanie. This talented photographer hails from the Charleston area, and it's a good thing she does, because this area offers her gorgeous landscapes for her art. New Workshop Series - Grow Your Shop

Hi guys! I'd like to start out by introducing myself. My name is Kristi and I'm a 30-something stay-at-homer from Greenville. I'm a blogger and an Etsian (speckleddog).

I joined this team a few weeks ago and I'm really excited to have the chance to help build our team and help build members' individual sales. My contribution to our team blog will be tips and tricks on how to maximize your listings to help you get your items sold. I'm calling this series, "Grow Your Shop".

My first series of posts will focus on photos. Your photos are probably the most important part of your listing. Your photos will be what gets you noticed, what gets you into treasuries and what gets you featured on Etsy.

If you take a look at the treasuries that have made it to the front page, you'll see that not only are the bright and clear, but they have an artsy feel to them.

When you're taking your photos, your goal shouldn't just be to just show someone what you're selling. Your goal should be to get your photo into a treasury and ultimately onto the front page or Etsy or into one of their newsletters. I'm going to show you how to take photos that will get you noticed and that will have people wanting to include your items in their treasuries.

I'm not a professional, but I've had 106 sales in just under 5 months. I've gained 557 shop hearts in this time period and have been included in 99 treasuries. I've also had an item featured in an Etsy newsletter, which brought thousands of views to my shop. I truly believe that it is my photos that have done all of this for me and I want YOUR photos to do the same for you.

February's Creative Challenge: Winter's Last Blast!

Here at TeamSC, we know that it is easy to get into a creative "slump". Slumps are bad, especially when this team has so much creative talent! That is exactly why we hold our creative challenges. They are to inspire members create something. It's easier when you have a goal to achieve and it's fun to compete with others. Besides, our creative challenge items will help to fill up our team shop. The more traffic we get into our team shop, the more chance that your items might sell!

Soooo, if you are looking for some inspiration this month, look no further. Team SC has some ideas for you! With that being said, our February Creative Challenge theme is: Winter's Last Blast!

What sorts of things could you create in following with that theme? Well, for starters, you could create something that reminds you of winter, something you could wear in winter, something icy, snowy, cold, things having to do with winter sports like skiing or snowboarding, blizzards, ice storms, mountain lodges, igloos, sitting by a crackling fireplace......you get the picture now, don't you? The possibilities are endless!

With that being said, here are the rules:

1. You must be a Team SC member to participate.
2. Only one entry per person/shop
3. Item must be created and listed between February 1st and Noon on Monday, February 21st and fit the "Winter's Last Blast" theme. It is up to you to interpret the "Winter's Last Blast" theme any way you please.
4. Entries must be listed in the team shop.
5. Voting will begin Monday afternoon on February 21st. The last day to vote will be Monday, February 28th noon. Please feel free to promote the voting on your own personal blogs/websites/Facebook/Twitter/etc. during that week. The winner will be announced in the afternoon on Monday afternoon, February 28th.
6. The winner of the challenge will receive a special place on our team blog for a month as well as being interviewed.

It's not everyday that you get to celebrate a birthday of someone you admire and think of as a friend. That's what makes today's birthday feature blog SO special....it's Rosemary's birthday!! That's right, THE Rosemary of MinnieMaes, and one of TeamSC's administrators! Happy Birthday, Rosemary!!!!

Despite being a busy mom, Rosemary pours her heart and soul into TeamSC everyday. She's in charge of our Creative Challenges, helps moderate our monthly meetings, keeps the team up-to-speed on our team blog, and helps out behind the scenes more than you know. Her Etsy shop is filled to the brim with handmade dolls, bears, bags, and more, all with that extra-special touch of love that makes Rosemary so vital to the team. January's Creative Challenge: Fire and Ice

We have spiced up our creative challenges!
Please note that now, your challenge items will be added to our Team shop at no charge!

January brings to mind the obvious cold weather we experience in our dear state of South Carolina but, why not mix things up and pair the cold with it's opposite- hot!

With that being said, our January Creative Challenge will be one of both Fire and Ice. What could you create with those two elements in mind? Endless possibilities....that's what! From cold and warm weather apparel, items with those elements on them, fiery or icy "bling", to even a fire or ice breathing dragon! Get creative, get inspired, which the main reason we hold these challenges. Use this broad theme to create something special!

Here are the rules for the challenge:

1. You must be a Team SC member to participate.
2. Only one entry per person/shop
3. Item must be created and listed between January 1st and Noon on January 23rd and fit the "Fire and Ice" theme. It is up to you to interpret the "Fire and Ice" theme any way you please.
4. Entries must be listed in the Team Shop .

To add your item to the team shop follow these simple steps:

A. Fill out the New Challenge Listing Form.
B. Send the form and your image of your entry to: teamsc@bellsouth.net
C. Tag your item: scchallenge0111
**Please note that there is no charge for listing only your challenge entry to the team shop. After you send in the form and your entry is added to the team shop, you will receive a listing number for your records. Also, please remember that the item you post in the team shop can only be sold in the team shop and not simultaneously listed in your own personal shop unless you have 2 of the same items available for sale.

5. Voting will begin Sunday afternoon on January 23rd. The last day to vote will be Sunday, January 30th at noon. Please feel free to promote the voting on your own personal blogs/websites/Facebook/Twitter/etc. during that week. The winner will be announced in the afternoon on Sunday, January 30th.
6. The winner of the challenge will receive a special place on our team blog for a month as well as being interviewed.

Laura's shop is filled with the type of photography that makes you wish you could wallpaper your home with them! Her gorgeous reflections of South Carolina, especially SC beaches, are breathtaking. Take, for example, her Sand Castles print:

When I look at some of Laura's pictures, it makes me wish I could be at that particular spot at the very moment in time she captured with her camera. Case in point: Waiting for the Sunrise:

I have to say, though, my favorite print in her shop is that of "Desmond." I could totally pass this off as my cat, Pip. :0)

It's our first November birthday! Let's celebrate with Stage Bunny! Happy Birthday from TeamSC!!

This month's Creative Challenge is an exciting one! The winner of our November/December challenge will win one of our team samplers! Who wouldn't want to win a package chock full of great handmade items made right here in South Carolina?!

Our challenge will run through both November and December so that will allow all busy SC Team Etsy-ians plenty of time to get your entry in and be in the running for the fabulous prize!

Here are the rules:

1. You must be a Team SC member to participate.
2. Only one entry per person/shop
3. Item must be created and listed between November 1st and Noon on December 12th and fit the "Gift Giving Delights" theme. It is up to you to interpret the "Gift Giving Delights" theme any way you please. This is the biggest and broadest theme we've ever had so, basically, anything you would list on Etsy for someone to purchase and give as a gift would fit the theme!

4. Entries must be listed in your shop and posted on the Nov/Dec thread on our team message board by Noon on Sunday, December 12th. The November/December thread can be found here. Entry must also be tagged: scchallenge1210 Please remember to post a photo of your entry in the Nov/Dec thread on the message board. This will be how we find your entry and add you to the voting.

Happy Birthday to our last October birthday gal, Jacki from City Details!

Aside from Jacki's stunning photos, the objects in Jacki's photos are stunning too! This is Jacki's Green Lucite Bracelet with Locket. I really like it because of it's vintage look. It's simple, yet elegant.

This is her Wirewrapped Necklace in Greek Ceramic, Copper, and Wood. Jacki says she went out of her "comfort zone" creating this piece but it turned out beautifully and is a very interesting piece.

These Autumn Carnelian and Czech leaf beaded earrings would be perfect to wear to any occasion this fall season. Lovely!

Jumpinjudo creates a variety of sewn goods. I'm all into fall decorating right now so, I knew that these Checker board placemats would make a beautiful addition to any table setting. They are sewn from Moda fabrics and would brighten up a table in a snap!

Today is Beth Wicker's special day and Team SC wishes for you to have a great one!

Beth's shop is called Three Cats and A Dog Design Studio and is actually a product of the hard work of both Beth and her daughter, Mary Elizabeth. These ladies make beautiful hand forged jewelery that they say, will last a lifetime.

Visit Beth's shop and you will find lots of treasures like this Sterling Silver October Heart that is beautifully cut and stamped to create a beautiful necklace suitable for all sorts of occasions.

If you have a thing for fine gems, this Leopard Jasper Pendant may be just the ticket for you! It's quite a stunning piece of spotted jasper that can be put on any chain you already own or Beth can suggest one that is just perfect for it.

Today is Norma's birthday! Happy Birthday Norma!

Norma has two shops. Banner Celebrations contains an assortment of handmade pennant banners and Cutting Back, that carries all sorts of vintage sewing patterns.

I've seen some of Norma's work up close and personal. She pays close attention to detail and creates some beautiful little pieces. This Autumn Wall Hanging sports a good example of Norma's work. It has all sorts of fabrics and other embellishments that make it truly unique.

This is Norma's Teddy Bear Collage Garland. These types of banners are great to add a personal touch to your home during any celebration. Isn't it cute?!

Since sewing is near and dear to my heart, I picked out this pattern as one I would love to own. These older vintage patterns are great for those on Etsy because the patterns usually aren't patented. Those that sew, like myself, can make these items and sell them freely on Etsy! Norma provides a great service by selling these patterns to those that are looking for them. I've made this Vintage Centennial Sunbonnet pattern one of my favorites!

Nicole describes herself as a whimsical folk artist and makes all sorts of beautiful and unique pottery. That's right, ladies, there's a man in our midst! And WOW is he talented. If you're headed to his shop, give yourself awhile, because you'll be mesmerized with the gorgeous paintings and glass work! It took me awhile to choose the three feature items for this blog because there's so much great stuff in this shop!! Of the paintings, my favorite is this Tsunami Sun Original Painting:

TeamSC's August Creative Challenge---Back To School!!

It's that time again---time to put away the bathing suits and sunscreen, and get out the pencils and calculators. It's August---and it's time to go back to school!!

This month's Creative Challenge theme is just that---Back to School! We're looking for your most creative entries to fit this theme: think teacher's gifts, school supplies, or anything at all that reminds YOU of the Back to School season.

Here are the rules for the challenge:

1. You must be a TeamSC member to participate in the challenge.

2. There can only be ONE entry per person.

3. The item must be created and listed from August 1 to August 25 and fit the "Back to School" theme to qualify. Any type of items you wish to use to create your entry will be accepted and it is up to you to interpret the theme any way you please.

4. Entries must be in by midnight Wednesday August 25, to be included in the voting process. August Creative Challenge items MUST BE TAGGED "scteamchallenge810." By tagging your items with this special tag, we will be able to locate and promote challenge items for promotions and voting procedures. Please note that if your item sells before midnight August 25 it will not show up even with the challenge tag. To ensure that your item is included in the voting process, you must also provide a picture and a link to the team message board (Look under "Challenges).

5. The voting process will begin on Thursday, August 26, at noon and proceed until Sunday, August 29 at midnight. The votes will be counted and the winner announced on Monday, August 30. Voting will take place here on the Team Blog. A special promotions thread will also be started on Etsy to promote voting. Members are encouraged to share the blog link with friends and family! The more that vote, the better!

6. The winner of the August Creative Challenge--Back to School--will be featured on the team blog for one month and will be interviewed for a special article on the team blog.
